This is a collection of tracks I made back in the day when I was producing a lot of rap music for local artists. I would get the artist to jump on one of the beats I had, and sometimes would get a quick verse or freestyle, and I eventually turned this into a mixtape of tracks.
This also doubles as a collection of the "best of" from my early production, as I was just getting a style together. I originally had been a bass player in bands, then tried to produce electronic music, but really didn't know what I was doing production-wise until I started working on a lot of rap for Bay Area locals. These early recordings are from when I just started to solidify as a producer, still raw but starting to juice up tracks!
Later I was able to take the production philosophy I had learned working on Bay Area rap and hip hop and add in the other elements I wanted like rock and electronic elements and an overall cinematic vibe. I also ended up working on some great rap later like Hustlevania with Rappin 4-Tay, which I produced, and mastering on two Totally Insane Empire releases, and a lot of other mixing work for a variety of artists.
I still hope to work on some more Bay Area rap sometime!
